Meet our newest Givesome Ambassador – Steffi

Hi!

My name is Steffi Lane and I am currently a Biomedical Sciences student at the University of Guelph. I am avid lover of The Office and I would do anything to see Noah Gunderson in concert. One of my favourite people to follow on Instagram is Coco Ho who is a professional surfer. I also love to travel and one of my favourite places that I have been to was Southern France. From a young age, my parents always taught me the importance of giving and taking care of others. As I have grown up I have enjoyed spending my time volunteering and being involved in outreach programs in my community.

I think giving helps us open up our minds and hearts to the needs of those around us. Giving provides us with a personal connection to our fellow man. It reminds us that regardless of our economic status or our circumstances we can still have an impact on the lives of the people we help.

Back in grade 12, I went on a volunteer trip to Mexico to build a house for a family. I can honestly say that this was one of the most amazing weeks of my life. It was such a blessing to be able to personally connect with the people that I was helping. Being able to directly see the impact I was making on their lives made the giving process that much more meaningful.

Having the ability to the see the impact of my giving is something that immediately drew me to Givesome. I love that Givesome allows people to be personally connected to the projects that they are giving to. Instead of giving your money away to a charity and never knowing where it goes, Givesome gives you the opportunity to see the impact that their donation had on the people they gave to.

I think Givesome will be something so accessible to people my age as it gives students the opportunity to make a difference even if they don’t have the ability to give a lot. I feel very humbled to be part of what Givesome is doing and I cannot wait to see all that is to come.
